Bradon Krohn has become 做厙勛圖 Centurions mens bowling teams first individual conference champion.
Krohn, a sophomore from Fruitport, Michigan, in his second year with the Centurions team, was recently named the 做厙勛圖AA Western Conference Bowler of the Year. On the womens team, Nicole Hollabaugh and Amaya Farr were also recognized, being named to the 做厙勛圖AA Western Conference All-Freshman Team.
This was awesome, Centurions head coach Jason Willmore said. The girls were very excited and Bradon, hes been our rock. This is a real positive not only for our team but for 做厙勛圖, especially for our program just starting out three years ago. To have one of our own finish at the top, to be a No. 1 bowler, thats quite an accomplishment.
Krohn said he wasnt out to earn the award. Actually, he didnt realize there was such an award. Despite that, Krohn has been working hard to play at his best this season and was happy to earn the award.
Its nice because my hard work finally paid off, he said. I wanted to go in and win every week and do everything I could to put up high scores.
Willmore said Krohn has been impressive all season, having scored over 600 in every series hes bowled this year.
He won a plaque his first week of bowling and hes been in contention in every match, Willmore said of Krohn. Hes a very good bowler. He understands the sport very well.
Willmore added Krohn has been a great and positive teammate, helping others whenever he can.
Krohn said hes improved on the physicality of the game and has been better at repeating good shots and finding the best part of a lane to get good results. As far as his teammates, he said he has been enjoying the season with them.
We have a good time, even when things arent going well, he said. Every week, were not down in the dumps. We keep our heads up and dont dwell on the bad stuff.
Farr, of Greenville, had no idea she would be named to the All-Freshman Team.
I was shocked, she said. I wasnt expecting it at all.
Hollabaugh said when Willmore told her the good news on a phone call, she was speechless.
This wasnt even on my radar, so I was beyond stunned, Hollabaugh said. I am so honored and blessed by this accomplishment. I really just wanted to do the best I could for my team and then this followed it.
Farr credited her teammates and Willmore for her success this season, stating that everyone has bonded well with no drama. Hollabaugh agreed, stating that bonding with her teammates was the top priority going into the season.
I was so excited that we had a full team of strong women, but theyve all become my best friends, Hollabaugh said. Hyping each other up after a bad game, celebrating one anothers successes, that is what has worked for me. I wouldnt have achieved this without four of my best friends there to support me.
Willmore said both Farr and Hollabaugh have each shown great progress since the first season.
Theyre both very open-minded and both are willing to try things to get better, he said. They each have a positive attitude. Both of them just really want to bowl.
Willmore, in his first year as head coach, said he was blessed to have both teams work well together.
The girls work well together. They go out to dinner and hang out together a lot, Willmore said. Our guys have been doing well together all season, too.
